This License agreement (the "AGREEMENT") is made between Emurasoft, Inc. ("EMURASOFT"), with its principal place of business in Redmond, Washington, and the individual installing the software ("LICENSEE"), and is effective at the date the installation is completed (the "EFFECTIVE DATE"). EMURASOFT is the owner of certain right, title and interest in the computer program entitled EmEditor and related documentation (the "SOFTWARE PRODUCT"). LICENSEE wishes to obtain and EMURASOFT agrees to grant a non-exclusive license to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT under the terms of the AGREEMENT. EMURASOFT and LICENSEE in consideration of the above agree as follows:

LICENSEE wishes to obtain and EMURASOFT agrees to grant a non-exclusive license to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT under the terms of the AGREEMENT. EMURASOFT and LICENSEE in consideration of the above agree as follows:

1. EMURASOFT hereby grants to LICENSEE nonexclusive rights to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT from the Effective Date without any rights whatsoever to redistribute the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, under the terms and conditions of the AGREEMENT. EMURASOFT retains all ownership rights in the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, including patent rights, copyrights and licensing rights. No rights, express or implied, for use other than specified in this AGREEMENT are transferred.

2. LICENSEE agrees to restrict the use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT to him or herself. LICENSEE agrees to save the registration key in a secure place and not to distribute the registration key. If the registration key provided to the LICENSEE is discovered in a public place, LICENSEE agrees that the registration key will be disabled and LICENSEE may be held legally responsible. If LICENSEE loses registration key, LICENSEE recognizes that EMURASOFT is under no obligation to provide the lost registration key or a new registration key. LICENSEE further agrees only to use a registration key explicitly granted to him/her and supplied by EMURASOFT.

3. LICENSEE agrees not to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or distribute the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, except and only to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation.

4. EMURASOFT EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTY FOR THE SOFTWARE PRODUCT. THE SOFTWARE PRODUCT AND ANY RELATED DOCUMENTATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NONINFRINGEMENT. THE ENTIRE RISK ARISING OUT OF USE OR PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE PRODUCT REMAINS WITH THE LICENSEE.

5. IN NO EVENT SHALL EMURASOFT, ITS TRUSTEES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, ASSOCIATES OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, OR ANY OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE PRODUCT, EVEN IF EMURASOFT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

6. This AGREEMENT shall be construed, governed, interpreted and applied in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, U.S.A.

7. The term of the AGREEMENT is one year (the "Term"). At the end of the Term, the AGREEMENT shall be automatically renewed under the same terms and conditions unless EMURASOFT indicates otherwise. EMURASOFT shall have the right to terminate this AGREEMENT for any reason with immediate effect upon notice by conventional mail, electronically or by posting at our web site to LICENSEE. Upon termination for any reason, LICENSEE agrees to destroy the original and all copies, including partial copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

8. The parties agree that this AGREEMENT is the entire AGREEMENT, and shall not be subject to any change or modification except in writing by both parties.

Review of EmEditor Text Editor Free 6.00.2

In my Review of EmEditor text Editor> It is a nice addition to other Editors I have used. I like how it mimics the cold fusion editor in many ways with out the cost for some one who can't afford to buy everything. Thank you for the opportunity to have such a useful tool for just the asking.

Excellent editor

This editor has an intuitive interface. It supports unicode which is vital when dealing with kanji and the like. I used it for unicode text manipulation using regular expressions which worked very well. There was one limitation which was with look arounds, you cannot have an unlimited pattern whereas in RegexBuddy you can.

Emeditor text editor free.

It is what you would expect for free of charge.
It works!
It does what it is supposed to!
It is better than windoze notepad and that is all it had to do. Be better than notepad. I am happy with it.

Initial Thoughts

I went through the editor configuration menus and found the them versatile and well thought-out. The ability to save in Windows and Unix formats was a great feature for a free editor.

not bad not great

Seems to lack some user options. Only tried it once.
It lacked user options to change colors and I was really looking for an editor
that had a FAVORITES option to remember the common work directories I use.
I currently use Crimson Editor and it lacks the favorites option but for free it is an excellent editor.
Scale of 1 to 10 I would say this editor rates a 6.

Super: just lacks localization

A last an editor that is aware of code pages ! Syntax highlighting is also very useful.

Would be nice to have a localized version. Thanks a lot for releasing such a good product for free.

Character Set Support

The number one feature I like about EmEditor is its support for multiple character sets.

Not usable for several languages.

I need a texteditor that can help me developing translation files for internationalisation (i18n) for my personal website. While russian text was recognised beautifully polish and czechoslovak text was looking like the text was misformed. I discovered no way of repairing that like setting the language right.

It is better than notepad&wordpad

I am an vi fans under Linux. But when come to windows, I don't have a favorite editor on hand. I don't want to use proprietary software, so I had been searching. Thanks I found this and it has a free version. I don't know how about it deeply. But by far, it is doing good job. Support of my Chinese word and UTF-8 is perfect. If someone wants to have a free window editor I will remember him to try this.
